Summer Salad

Hey, y'all!
How long has it been????? Let's...not talk about it and focus on my VEGETABLE DRESS.
It's from my cheap-but-a-little-sketchy Amazon fave, cowcow. I think I paid $16 for the 2XL.

I spotted this first on some blogger. I'm sure they were uniquely fabulous fabulous, but I was so excited about the  prospect of owning this dress I promptly forgot who they were.
I'm a salad-enthusiastic vegetarian, so this artichoke-carrot-radish-tomato-pepper dress is absolutely perfect for me.
(We're not going to talk about my silver Birkenstocks.)
I have another cowcow dress in a 3XL and it's a liiiiiittle too big. The 2XL fits my bust and waist much more snugly, which looks better.
When my sister came and helped me move out over graduation weekend, she found these CARROT glasses in the free bin. A taste for cheap-to-free, absurd fashion must be in our blood.

Or Be Square

Though I'm busy busy busy with school, I'm no less of a thrift enthusiast than ever! It's like Depop was made for me. Thrifting without the thrift store! I've had a lot of fun selling a few things, but I've probably bought far more. It's like slightly less suspicious, mobile eBay!
I snagged this shirt for like $5 and I'm utterly enamored with it. It's loud and huge and silky and utterly absurd, which is just the kind of shirt I like.
A girl in my costume design class was deeply impressed with it when I opened the package, which feels like a compliment.
Just add purple lipstick, enormous specks, and messy hair and I've got a look that's totally silly and totally me.

Foxy Lady

I've decided not to dwell on the absolute eons it's been since I've done a full outfit post and instead focus on this utterly darling dress from Forever 21+. I snatched it up despite my best judgement the moment I saw it--and it's a lucky thing! Because this dress quickly became one of those garments that half of the plus size fashion bloggers own. For once I don't have to be jealous! Frankly I hope they bring out more prints like this, though. I'm hooked.
It's kinda dorky, but so am I. Look at those darling little foxes!
I paired it with what I think of as my "Twin Peaks sweater." I always feel a vision in navy! The boots were more of a pragmatic decision. I nabbed them from the free bin!
And I'm LA-LA-LOVING my new light panel! Is that what they're called? It's a panel of very strong LED lights that slides onto my Canon's hot shoe and I'm obsessed with the vibe it lends all my pictures.
I'm really into these sunnies, too. Like all my best stuff, they're from Goodwill. So much to report after months and months of silence! (I said I wasn't going to talk about that!)
They make me feel like an asshole from a teen 80s movie.

Cardigan and sunnies: Thrifted @ Goodwill

A Winter's Day

Winter can be a bit of a drag. I like to walk places and spend time outside, which means wrapping up cute outfits in sensible winter coats and wearing ugly boots everywhere. But I snagged this pretty grey coat at NoHo hospice this fall and bought this absurdly large and soft tartan scarf on Amazon to get free shipping. My winter aesthetic is on this year.
I really really love the cut of this coat. Maybe no one else would, but I'm weirdly obsessed with 1980s wool coats. It's extremely straight and shapeless with roomy, square shoulders and I'm so into it.
(The sun and a very large flock of geese arrived all at once!)

Coat: Thrifted @ NoHo Hospice Shop
Scarf: Amazon. Currently sold out, but search "blanket scarf" and you'll find a lot of similar options!
My gloves are definitely from the dollar store and they are terrible.

5 Junky Things I Wish Were Widely Available in Plus Sizes

Would I buy them if they were? Probably not. I'm notoriously cheap. But here's a list of options I don't have, and it makes me pretty mad.

For a mere $6.50 that jellyfish skirt could be mine...except that there is absolutely no hope that I am part of the "all" in "one size fits all."

If you're lucky enough to catch them in stock in the plus size section, they're $6-9 and come in like...four bland colors.

I'm not saying I'm proud of myself. I am saying that I'd spend a lot more time lusting fruitlessly after these if AmAp would bother to reliably carry jeans that allow for a waist larger than 32 inches.

I could probably wear the "unisex" XL, maaaaybe the women's XL. The fact that neither lines go further than XL and the "loose fit" women's tees are one-size are just grim reminders than being lazy and antisocial is only cute if you're thin. Awesome!

Thank god for Sock Dreams and all, but the thick thighed cuties of the world are all wishing for more.

What do you wish you could find in plus sizes?

Thanks

I know I've been quiet. I think I'm slowly re-centering myself.
Until then, you probably won't see a whole lot from me. But Lee and I still practiced our fine Thanksgiving tradition of dressing up and taking pictures!
They're one of the sweetest, dearest friends in my life. Thanksgiving is rather an odd holiday, but I'll always be thankful for people like Lee.
I really love the idea of this dress from Boohoo, but the neckline is absurdly low. You might wanna skip it if you're busty.
(In which my blacks very obviously do not match.)

Dress: Boohoo
Sweater: The free bin???
Coat: Thrifted @ NoHo Hospice for only $15! I'll try and make a post about this darling piece soon.

Tacky Shorts

I was invited to go on a trip to the big mall in the area over fall break and was predictably drawn to Forever 21. At the register, I thought I was buying the cutest little outfit--but seen together here, I'm not sure they quite work together.
I love this shirt! But I bought it in a 2X because I'm broad shouldered. I don't mind the boxiness, really, but it's bizarrely short considering that it's really a size too big for me in most respects.
It does have this cute cut out in the back, though! Normally I'm opposed to random chunks being cut out of plus size clothing, but this is just tasteful enough for me to embrace.
I love this shirt with jeans and even a few skirts...but not so much with these shorts.
These came out, what, this summer? They were marked down to like $8.50 on the clearance rack. I love the print. I love the idea of tacky ass floral culottes. Really, I do. But I bought these in a 1X, my tried and true Forever 21 size. In the store, they seemed to fit fine. Perfectly, even. Later I discovered that the waist is too damn big. That's the opposite of my usual Forever 21 struggles! They're practically falling off me.
Obviously I've still been wearing them, They're too cute not to! But I need to take them in, and I don't really have the time or patience to do so.

I imagined this outfit with the top snugly tucked into the shorts, but the shorts were too loose for that to be physically possible. I still felt pretty cute, but let's not pretend this silhouette is flattering. I look like I'm wearing a sack!
At least my sunglasses are poppin'!
